If only they had been armed.

The wonders of the second-amendment continue to plant seeds:

CARTHAGE, N.C. – A gunman burst into a North Carolina nursing home Sunday morning and started “shooting everything,” killing seven residents and a nurse and wounding at least three others.

Robert Stewart, 45, of Moore County, was charged hours later with eight counts of first-degree murder and a single charge of felony assault of a law enforcement officer. Authorities offered few other details, allowing only that Stewart was not a patient or an employee at the nursing home, and isn’t believe to be related to any of the victims.

  1. good god, not another one, that’s just horrible. what can be done to stop these ‘bad apples’ from going on killing sprees? (apart from gun control, obviously, but that just doesn’t seem likely to happen unless there is some shift in the paradigm/collective consciousness; even in europe with much tighter gun control, these types of lone gunman shooting sprees are becoming more commonplace, it’s very worrying)

Sadly, even the Democrats are absolutely cowed and fearful of the NRA, who are no better than cigarette makers in their level of sabotage and delusion. The armed and dangerous zealots on FOX are reaping what they sow.

  3. Move to a small town. Get away from the rat race. Be safe.

Could you think of anywhere more docile than a nursing home? These gun nuts always shoot up places where they can maximize their damage…

  5. well, i’m not sure moving to a small town is the solution; i live in one big ‘small town’ (new zealand) and it’s happened here in the smallest little backwater you can possibly imagine, a place called aramoana in which a deeply psychologically disturbed gun nut named david gray (diagnosed after his death as very likely a paranoid schizophrenic) went on a shooting spree, killing 13 people. these lone gunmen are obviously seriously mentally ill, so while people having access to guns is a serious problem – esp. in the US with the proliferation of arms – perhaps the deeper issue is how such mentally disturbed people are not getting diagnosed or the help they need, they just quietly slip through the cracks in society and fester at a horrible cost.

Please see the above post for the thrill of small-town living (tho i assume the comment was irony)…
