September Song

One of my favorite Sinatra standards, best served as the last track on his 1965 masterpiece, “The September Of My Years,” is a perfect welcome to the first day of Autumn. As I’ve stated before, Sinatra’s intonation of the line “when the autumn weather…turns the leaves to flame” is arguably his finest vocal moment.   1. I’m no expert on Sinatra, but I do know this — don’t listen to In the Wee Small hours by yourself if you’ve been drinking. It’s dangerous, especially in the wee small hours.
