Crazy Train

SilStreak1What is wrong with these people? And I love that line about since Americans are funding Amtrak, they should have full access to their second amendment rights. So I guess somebody can carry a concealed gun into the White House? Good grief:

WASHINGTON – The Senate voted Wednesday to permit passengers on the Amtrak passenger railroad to transport handguns in their checked baggage.

The proposal, approved by a 68-30 vote, seeks to give Amtrak riders rights comparable to those enjoyed by airline passengers, who are permitted to transport firearms provided that they declare they are doing so and that the arms are unloaded and in a securely locked container.

“Americans should not have their Second Amendment rights restricted for any reason, particularly if they choose to travel on America’s federally subsidized rail line,” said Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., who made the proposal.

  1. I have no problem with this whatsoever. If there was a precedent of issues with the same law when exercised by airline passengers, then i might give pause. This will only affect people who are already inclined to follow the law.

  2. Or those inclined to pull out a legal firearm on a crowd. Because as we’ve seen in the spate of gun violence, most of the gun owners have had permits. Bringing guns onto planes is just insane. I’m sorry, our country is becoming psychotic.

  3. what spate of gun violence are you referring to?

  4. The gun violence I keep posting about! You know, churches shot up, policeman killed, every week it seems there’s some new home massacre with guns. And psychos bringing weapons to Presidential townnhalls is an invitation to violence. Our whole country has been on a non-ending streak of gun violence. With no end in sight.

  5. Citing occurrences does not qualify a spate or trend. Is there a spate or trend??? The only credible stat i could find ( i found all others biased ) show downward trend in gun violence; I found this at the Bureau of Justice statistics. I’ve yet to find a stat that discriminates between lawful owners and street thugs.

I assume you are in favor of restrictions on gun ownership, perhaps eliminating the right? If so I respect your opinion. Question: would any shape of data on gun violence change your opinion in this matter? I’m not being facetious here. I’d really like to know.
