A Red Letter Day

A San Francisco federal judge today struck down California’s ban on same-sex marriage, concluding that it tramples on the equal rights of gay and lesbian couples and that they are entitled to be married throughout the state.

Who better to celebrate with than my beloved Pet Shop Boys and their catchy anthem from 1997:

  1. Does this mean I can go back to being somewhat proud to be Californian?

Isn’t it funny how people only squeal about activist judges when they don’t agree with their decisions? The dude didn’t throw out the constitution, he upheld it.

    Suck on it, righty assholes.

  2. Yeah, the Prop 8 supporters are whipping up excuses as quickly and as furiously as they can as to why they lost. But they forget to mention the most important one: their side presented an extremely weak case. I read some of the “evidence” they presented and I almost felt sorry for them. It was just downright embarrassing. Well, that and the fact that there is no legal justification whatsoever to deny same-sex couples the right to marry.

Bravo to CA, for getting it right for a change. Hopefully the appeal will be rejected and then it’s on to the SCOTUS. What happens there is anyone’s guess.

  3. *cheers*
