What a long strange trip…

On this day in 1958, Swiss scientist Albert Hoffman synthesized his potent discovery, LSD, into the compact form that altered the world’s collective consciousness. Art and culture have never been the same since. Thank God. Where would we be without The Beatles and SKIDOO? Like the clueless apes in 2001: A SPACE ODYESSEY  before the monolith arrived. And a film that would have been a box office flop without acid.

It gave me an inner joy, an open mindedness, a gratefulness, open eyes and an internal sensitivity for the miracles of creation. […] I think that in human evolution it has never been as necessary to have this substance LSD. It is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be. – Albert Hoffman
